This Privacy Policy describes how Tonnage: Workout Tracker Gym (“we,” “our,” or “us”) collects, uses, and protects the information of users (“you”) who access our mobile application and related services (the “App”). By using the App, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy.
If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy, please stop using the App immediately.
Tonnage is a local-first app. You do not create an account, and we never ask for your name, email address, or phone number. Your training data — workouts, sets, weights, personal records, body weight, and measurements — is stored on your device and is not uploaded to us. Information leaves your device only for three purposes: anonymous analytics and crash reporting, subscription management through Apple, and the optional AI coach features you choose to use.
When you use the App, you may enter:
This data is stored locally in the App's storage on your device. We do not have access to it, and it is not copied to our servers. If you delete the App, this data is deleted with it. You can export all of it at any time as a CSV file (Settings → Data → Export) and import data from a CSV file, including exports from other workout trackers.
Through analytics and diagnostics tools (Google Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics), we automatically collect:
Purchases are processed by Apple. We never receive or store your payment card details. Our subscription provider (Apphud) assigns an anonymous identifier to your installation and stores subscription status, product identifiers, and transaction data so that the App can unlock paid features and restore your purchases on a new device.
The AI coach features — the workout review, exercise technique explanations, the daily coach line, and the coach chat — are processed by our server, which forwards the request to our AI provider (OpenAI). Only when you use these features, the App sends:
Our server stores the following, linked only to an anonymous identifier and never to a name, email address, or phone number: your coach conversations and their context snapshot, cached workout reviews and daily coach lines (so that reopening them does not generate a new request), daily usage counters that protect the service from abuse, and your subscription status.
Your workout history is never uploaded or mirrored to our servers. If you never use the AI features, no information about your training leaves your device.
If you enable “Sync with Health” in Settings, the App writes completed workouts and active energy burned to Apple Health. The App only writes data; it does not request or read any information from Apple Health. You can revoke this permission at any time in the Health app or in Settings → Privacy & Security → Health.
Rest-timer alerts and workout reminders are scheduled locally on your device. We do not operate a push notification server and do not send you remote notifications. Data shown in the Live Activity and in the home screen widget is passed between the App and the widget through a private on-device container and does not leave your device.
The App does not request access to your camera or photo library, does not track your location, does not read your contacts, does not display advertising, and does not use advertising identifiers to track you across apps or websites.
We use the information we collect to:
We do not use your data for advertising and we do not build advertising profiles.
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only in the following limited cases:
These providers are contractually required to protect your data and to use it solely to perform services on our behalf.
We may disclose information if required by applicable law, regulation, or legal process (such as a court order or subpoena), or to protect the rights, safety, or property of our users or others.
In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may be transferred to a successor entity. We will notify you of any such change through an in-app notice.
You may request deletion of the data we hold at any time by contacting us at support.spotter@gmail.com.
If you are located in the European Economic Area, you have the right to:
California residents have the right to know what personal information we collect and share, to request deletion of their data, and to opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information.
Contact us at support.spotter@gmail.com. Because we deliberately store no name, email address, or phone number, we may be unable to locate server-side records without the anonymous identifier associated with your installation; if you contact us from the device in question, we will help you retrieve it. You can delete all data held on your device at any time, without contacting us, by deleting the App.
We implement industry-standard security measures, including:
While we take reasonable steps to protect your information, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure.
Tonnage: Workout Tracker Gym is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us at support.spotter@gmail.com and we will promptly delete such information.
Our server infrastructure is located in the European Union. Our AI provider and our analytics and subscription providers may process data in the United States and other countries. Where we transfer data internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses for transfers from the EEA) to ensure your data receives a level of protection consistent with applicable law.
The App is a native application and does not use cookies. It uses the analytics and diagnostics tools described in section 1.2, which collect anonymous identifiers and usage patterns. The App does not present an App Tracking Transparency prompt because it does not track you across apps or websites owned by other companies. You can further limit tracking through your device settings (Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking), and you can stop all collection by deleting the App.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you through an in-app notice before the change becomes effective. The updated policy will be available within the App and will display the revised effective date. Your continued use of the App after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
